Noke Koî

Guardians of Ancestral Knowledge

The Noke Koî people, whose name translates to «the true people» in their native language, live in the heart of the Amazon within their indigenous territory in the state of Acre, Brazil. Their path of ancestral wisdom, traditional chants, and deep relationship with the forest’s botanical heritage preserve a spiritual legacy that honors a balance with nature, fostering inner harmony and a grounded presence of spirit.

The Katukina community is one of the six ancestral branches that comprise this Indigenous nation. Each lineage represents a symbolic energy of the natural world: the jaguar, the sun, the sky, and the vibrant life of the rainforest. The Katukina hold a significant role within this fabric, dedicated to protection, traditional song, and the preservation of their cultural heritage.

Through resilience and dedication, these communities have protected their ancient rituals, their native language (Nokevana), and their enduring connection to the forest.

You Will Meet

Pana Nowanawa

Pana Nomanawa is a dedicated guardian of the spiritual and cultural wisdom of the Noke Koi people.

From a young age, Pana absorbed the teachings of his elders, learning the ancestral songs and also the deep meanings they hold. These songs, known as sacred prayers (rezos), are essential for fostering a connection with the spirits of the forest; through his voice, they become a living link between the past and the present.

As the adopted son of one of his people's most powerful and recognized shamans, Pajé Romeya Kamarati, and a member of the Nomanawa clan, Pana was called to assume the role of Txana: a guardian of spirituality and sacred rituals within his community.

  • Guardians of the Amazonian Soul

The Katukina community is a living expression of this worldview. As custodians of traditional balance, they preserve the ancestral memory and spiritual heritage of the forest. Their presence serves as a bridge, keeping the wisdom of their lineage vibrant and honored for future generations.

  • Living energies of the jungle

The Noke Koî worldview is deeply intertwined with natural symbols: the jaguar, the sun, the sky, and the rain. Each element represents a living force within their culture and traditional practices. These energies manifest through ancient chants and a profound understanding of their role within the intricate fabric of the natural world.

  • Sacred language: Noke Vana

Their traditional language, part of the Panoan family, is passed down orally in their villages and communal gatherings. Each word carries profound traditional knowledge and a direct connection to the forest’s cycles and teachings.

  • Stewardship of the Territory

They have stood firm against external pressures, defending their territory and way of life with dignity. They protect not only the land they inhabit but also the ancestral heart of the Amazon.

  • Traditional Rituals and Botanical Wisdom

Their communal rituals and botanical practices are accompanied by ancestral chants, traditional baths, and purification customs. These are not only cultural practices but also forms of ancestral guidance and a path toward internal harmony and reconnection with one's own essence.

  • Silent guardians of the natural balance

Beyond their cultural preservation, their vision is also ecological and communal. They are the narrators of the forest’s soul and guardians of balance who sow awareness, protect the natural world, and pave the way for respect for future generations.

  • Traditional Visionary Rituals

Each evening, we gather for a profound immersion into forest wisdom, guided by the ancestral chants of Pajé Aro. This is a sacred space designed to foster a deep connection with your authentic essence. Through these traditional gatherings, you are invited to experience a journey of internal realignment and a new way of relating to yourself and the world around you.

  • Kene: Sacred Geometry and Symbolism

Before the evening rituals, Noke Koî elders share the tradition of the Kene, ancestral geometric designs representing protection and a connection to the forces of the jungle. These ritual paintings are a communal practice that opens a space of harmony and mental clarity, preparing the spirit for deep inward reflection.

  • Ritual of the Forest Breath

A practice of centering and preparation using traditional botanical powders. This ritual uses the "breath of the forest" to quiet mental noise, sharpen the vision, and center the heart, creating a grounded foundation for the deeper meditative experiences to follow.

  • Atmospheric Smudging

A practice of atmospheric refreshing and protection using smoke from sacred resins and ancestral plants. This traditional smudging creates a balanced environment for our communal gatherings, honoring the botanical heritage of the forest.

  • Traditional Vitality Practice

Guided by the Noke Koî, the ancestral custodians of this practice, we offer a traditional ritual for those seeking a sense of physical and mental clarity. This ancient technique supports a grounded foundation for your interior journey, fostering a renewed sense of vitality and a cleared path for self-reflection.

  • Catalyst for Self-Realization

For those seeking an even deeper contemplative path, we offer an experience focused on profound connection and transcendence. When approached with pure intent, this traditional practice serves as a catalyst for self-discovery, dissolving barriers to help you experience a sense of unity with the infinite essence of nature.
